About Me

My photo
Welcome to second grade! This is my ninth year at Pueblo Del Sol Elementary and my fifteenth year teaching. I was a military spouse for 11 years, so I have taught all over the country! In fact, I even taught first grade for three years in Italy! I have a BA in Psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara and I completed a teaching program at San Jose State University. I completed my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Reading. I am certified to teach in California, Georgia, DODDS, and Arizona. I live with my husband, Chris, and our two children, Tyler and Kylie. I am very excited to continue to work in a school with high standards for student learning. I also have very high expectations for my students and I love to challenge them and watch them grow into life long learners!

Wax Museum

Our wax museum is coming up! We are learning all about famous Americans from the American Revolution and Westward Expansion. We are researching, writing biographies, and memorizing our paragraphs. We will bring history to life on March 1. Come to Room 6 to meet important people in American history. Students should come to school dressed in their costumes. The doors to our museum open at 8:30. We hope to see you there!

Valentine's Day!

On Friday, February 12, our class will celebrate Valentine's Day. A note went home about our celebration last week. If your child plans on sending in cards, please send in enough for every student in the class. On this day, we will decorate our boxes, distribute cards, and complete several Valentine's Day activities. As always, class parties are rewards for completing work and displaying appropriate behavior. Students who have been disruptive in class or who are behind in their school work will miss all or part of the celebration. Please let me know if you have any concerns.

Celebrating the Holidays with the Herd!

The Herd had a wonderful holiday season! First, we took the stage for the second grade production of  "A Bugz Christmas."
Our class played the lightning bugs. We lit the Christmas tree and saved the day!

Mrs. Tebo brought in a gingerbread house for each student to decorate! We piled on the candy and the smiles! It was sugar overload in the Herd that day. Second grade sure is sweet!

Of course, through it all, we enjoyed visits from our science elf, Flame. Flame visited our classroom every week with a new science experiment. He even left us notes about how we did on his experiments. Our marble run was a gift from Flame! He had to go back to the North Pole to help Santa. We sure miss him!

The holidays are over, and the Herd is ready for a great 2016! Thank you to Mrs. Humphereys for decorating our door and getting us off to a bright New Year!

Halloween in the Herd!

Happy Halloween from the Herd!
We had so much fun on Halloween! Our costume parade theme was Super Heroes. The second grade team got in the spooky spirit by dressing up like some of our favorite crime fighters!

We loved walking in the costume parade! We even had front row seats for the sixth grade Thriller flash mob! Check out our awesome costumes!

We got to tour the fourth grade pumpkin biography museum!
We learned a lot about some very famous people, and we even saw some graduates of the Herd!
Here are two generations of the Herd ...

And here are three!!!
I guess this proves it, the Herd really is a family!

Did you know that Taylor Swift is in the Herd? We like to keep it quiet (to avoid all of the crazy fans), but she is a proud member of the Herd! She loved seeing her very own pumpkin biography!

Our Fall Celebration was fun, spooky, and yummy!
Thanks to all of the parents who brought in treats and to the moms who helped make our party a success!

Field Trip Fun!

We had so much fun on our trip to the pumpkin patch! First, we rode on a hay ride around the farm. We saw horses and goats, and we got to smell them, too!

Next, we picked out our pumpkin.

Finally, we met some the animals up close. We got to pet a pig, duck, chicken, turkey, goat, sheep, and a baby cow. We learned all about how animals help us and how they take care of them on the farm. We even got to watch them milk a goat!

Thank you to all of the parents who helped out on the trip!
